A romp through the English countryside with four centuries of lush, mostly ENGLISH chamber music that evokes the Pastoral, in various combinations of strings, harp and flute, concluding with a quick jaunt across the English Channel in a ravishing work by Frenchman Jean Cras.
Just as so many greatest English romantic poets and painters were inspired by the profound splendor and beauty of the natural world, the English landscape has also profoundly affected English composers since the end of the nineteenth century when a pastoral school began to take place.
