J. S. Bach
Christmas Oratorio
The 150-voice Cecilia Chorus of New York, with orchestra and soloists, performs J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, streamlined for the concert stage by Music Director Mark Shapiro. Vocalists Mireille Asselin and Annie Rosen, both who have performed at the Metropolitan Opera, participate in a Baroque-era musical nativity story that includes choruses, arias and ensembles ranging from the contemplative to the celebratory. The chorus, a 2015 ASCAP/Chorus America Award Winner, is one of New York’s earliest established choral societies, founded in 1906.
